The Student lamp originated in the kerosene-burning era of the late 1800s and was designed to eliminate shadows and push light downward to help with reading or studying. The basic design for a beautiful antique Student lamp was centered around a middle post with a loop for carrying and oil fonts with burners or shades on one or both sides.
