"I wanted to rewire a 30 to 50 year-old lamp my Great Aunt had made. She owned a ceramic shop and later was a Master Teacher and traveled the US teaching techniques. This lamp shows some of her signature brush work and she had also lifted some of the clay while it was still greenware, so there are delicate flower and leaf edges on the ceramic cylinder. So it I precious to me, but I wanted to update it. This wiring kit is perfect for today's family room. The dimmer allows you to have the lamp bright for activities or dim to interfere less with Big Screen TV viewing. The instructions are clear for those who have a base in which they can simply use one of the two included threaded nipples. Since I was holding together the tall ceramic body and a brass base, I also ordered an 18" rod and a couple of other length necks, since I was not sure which would look best or fit best (this is my first lamp redo). The hardware included in this kit is plenty if you do not have to tighten the bottom side of the nipple against whatever you are using as a base. In other words, this kit is for when the base you are using accepts the 3/8 inch threaded nipple and you can thread the nipple into place. The kit gives you everything you need from that point upward. If the lamp base you are using instead has a hole in which the nipple will sit loosely, you need to order nuts for above and below the hole in the base material, and maybe a large washer to put on the nipple between the lower nut and the lamp base hole. You have to make sure your nipple and the nut tightening it will not come through the hole in your lamp base. This kit gives you a thing called a Seating Ring. It is a round brass ornamental piece to cover over the hole in your lamp base. It is good for a base where you need to cover about an inch. If you need to cover more, you will want to buy a larger Seating Ring. I hope this review was helpful in explaining what instances will require you to buy more parts. It is a good set. The dimmer is marked for incandescent use only, but we all know that they are no longer available. I tried it with a Phillips dimmable LED bulb and it is working well. No buzz, no blinking."
