*SPT-1 and SPT-2 refer to the thickness of the insulation surrounding the stranded copper wire. Generally speaking, SPT-1 easily slips through 1/8 IP lamp pipe, SPT-2 does not easily slip 1/8 IP pipe. Please reference U.L. guidelines for appropriate applications for SPT-1 and SPT-2 rated lamp cord.

"Nothing wrong with the product, but please read the specifications carefully. I didn't, and the fact that the switch is only 18" from the end of the cord (where it would attach to the socket) makes it unusable for the lamp I was planning to rewire. The switch would be under the base of the lamp."
